Backyard Wrestling Loses Online

Eidos drops online play and prepares to ship November 16.

In an event sure to bring property damage to an all-time high across the country, Eidos has removed the online component from its upcoming wrestling game, Backyard Wrestling: There Goes the Neighborhood, IGN learned today.

"Backyard Wrestling 2: There Goes the Neighborhood for the PS2 and Xbox will ship on to retail on November 16 in the US, without the online component, and will hit store shelves in time for the holiday season," said an Eidos representative.

A source who asked to remain anonymous told IGN that Eidos wanted to issue a game that's well done and complete rather than to one that's rushed and incomplete. Apparently, Eidos has had unfinished issues going into the final stretch of the holiday season and wanted this game to ship on time -- with or without online play, and it's chosen the latter.

Backyard Wrestling: There Goes the Neighborhood is due to ship to retail stores November 16, 2004, one week after Halo 2. We'll have more soon.
