TGS 2004: Namco at TGS

The publisher reveals Tales-centric lineup.

As it tends to every year, Namco will have a big presence at this year's Tokyo Game Show. Though this season, the company is focusing on Tales.

Both Tales of Symphonia and the all-new Tales of Rebirth will make their playable debuts at TGS and will also feature as part of a stage show. The stage show is called Tales of Series Special Stage and will consist of two parts. For day two of TGS, the stage show will be called "Symphonia Day." Day three of TGS will see "Rebirth Day." On hand for each show will be development staff and voice talent for, respectively, Symphonia and Rebirth.

Namco will also hold an art contest for Tales fans. Those who participate (apparently no matter how crappy their artwork is) will receive a card containing Tales of Rebirth artwork.

Other games will make an appearance at the show, of course. Namco is expected to show Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War and Death By Degrees Tekken: Nina Williams, both for the PS2. Tekken 5 will make an appearance too, but only in arcade form. Namco is also promising some surprises beyond these titles.

Some good news for those of you who will be stuck in America during TGS: it looks like we'll be able to grab lots of direct feed footage of Namco's content. The company will hand out to showgoers a DVD titled "Namco Special Movie Collection." This DVD will feature game footage and developer interviews amounting to over an hour of footage.

Stay tuned to the 24th of September as TGS opens its doors.
