Chessmaster 10th Edition Ships

If Bobby Fisher can re-emerge, so can your love of the game.

Got chess? Madden may be faster, DOOM 3 may be scarier (we think), but nothing beats chess for classic board-based strategy. (Well, maybe Go, but barely any of you play that.)

Ubisoft announced today that Chessmaster 10th Edition has shipped to stores, ready to greet long-time fans of the PC franchise and set to introduce a bunch of new players to its charms. Very simply, when it comes to chess programs on the PC, nothing tops Chessmaster.

The latest Chessmaster features an enhanced interface, gorgeous visuals, various training modes for improving your skills, and even online ranking and create-a-tournament modes. Of course, the title also features the killer chess engine which is a hallmark of the series.

"Chessmaster 10th Edition is the perfect computer game for the whole family," said Tony Kee, vice president of marketing, Ubisoft. "Everyone from beginners to veterans will have a great experience learning to play and advancing their game. Studies have shown that chess improves critical thinking, concentration and creativity, and Chessmaster 10th Edition is a great way to learn and master the game of chess."
