Gamers Buy Mario Kart in Japan

Your chance comes next week!

Early sales information from Japanese gaming publication Famitsu points a pretty picture for Mario Kart: Double Dash!!. Since its Japanese release this past Friday, the game has sold upwards of 180,000 copies. In addition, sales of the game apparently pushed more GameCubes out the door than in previous weeks, with a jump in system sales to the 20,000 mark, up from 14,000 or so the week before.

These numbers, coming in as they are immediately following the weekend, are probably just a bit off from the totals you can expect to see at the end of the week. However, one thing's clear: Nintendo's latest cart racer is flying off shells in the company's homeland.
