Monster 4x4: Masters of Metal

Publisher Ubi Soft today announced that it will release Monsters 4x4: Masters of Metal for GameCube this December. A PS2 version is scheduled to ship in November.

The game, an off-road racer, puts players in control of the world's most powerful trucks and challenges them to survive in head-to-head competitions. Vehicles will be put to the test as gamers burn rubber through the mud puts in Louisiana or nearly fall to their explosive deaths on the cliffs in California. According to Ubi Soft, players will be able to use the game environments to their advantage so, for instance, if a competitor is following behind too closely, one can smash through a tree and send it flying at him or her. The title features a full circuit mode in which racers can earn cash to buy new trucks toward their ultimate Monster machine.

Other game features include:

• 50 unstoppable Monster trucks, including Grave Digger, Madusa, Spiderman, Wolverine, El Toro, and Bulldozer
• 30 Monster events, including brutal stadium circuits, merciless exhibition arenas, and the hairiest off-road circuits your tires have ever seen
• Two-player split screen mode for intense off-road competitions
