EA And Lego Announce Bionicle

The ridiculously popular toy line gets its own game. Details inside.

Electronic Arts and Lego are teaming up to publish Bionicle, a third-person action-adventure based on the phenomenally popular Lego toys of the same name.

Developed by Argonaut games, Bionicle will feature all of those funny-named places and characters fans of the toys have come to love. As one of the heroes of destiny known as Toa, players will be charged with saving the island of Mata Nui from the clutches of the evil Makuta, who, like all villains, is up to no good.

As they solve puzzles and battle Makuta's minions, players will earn access to 13 playable characters. Each of the six Toa have a super-powered alter ego known as a Toa Nuva, and then there's the mysterious seventh Toa to be unlocked.

Bionicle will feature six areas, each themed after a different element. Each of these areas will feature different environmental hazards, such as falling rocks on the mountain level, lava spills in the volcano and rainforest winds in the forest.

Scheduled to ship this fall, Bionicle will be released for the PS2, Xbox, GameCube and PC. We'll have more on this game soon.
