Bionicle Announced

Lego's popular line of articulated toys hits the videogame world.

In an announcement made this morning out of Redwood City, California, Electronic Arts and Lego Interactive announced that Bionicle: The Game is now a reality. Developed by Argonaut Games plc (Creature Shock, Croc: Legend of the Gobbos) and scheduled for release on multiple platforms in fall of 2003, the most successful franchise in Lego history will see its third digital incarnation in two years.

Assuming the role of Toa, Toa Nuva, and 7th Toa, you must explore the six elemental regions of Mata Nui. A tropical location filled with mountains, gigantic lakes, and thunderous volcanoes, the land will hold many secrets as your characters attempt to rescue the scattered Matoran and end the dark spell of evil from the warlord Makuta. While the majority of us have no idea what that description means exactly, it sounds like it could be pretty interesting; especially for the children the game is specifically aimed for.

Officially described as an "Action/Adventure epic of good versus evil with combat, collection, puzzle-solving, and exploration", Bionicle will offer multiple types of gameplay options such as snowboarding, platform jumping, and old-fashioned enemy battles. Headed for all three major consoles including the Personal Computer, Bionicle: The Game is certainly shooting for the widest audience possible.
