Football's Santa Claus, John Madden, has arrived in San Diego just in time for Super Bowl week. Not only will Madden be providing commentary during the Super Bowl broadcast on ABC this Sunday, he'll also be host to the ninth annual Madden Bowl.
Thursday, January 23, some of the NFL's best, brightest, and most bombastic come together in San Diego to play in the ultimate Madden NFL 2003 tournament. The winner gets bragging rights and a trophy presented by Big Daddy Madden himself. The losers get to hop into their $70,000 cars and drive home to their enormous estates.
With Bill Bellamy, Roselyn Sanchez (you got us, too), and Shannon Sharpe of the Denver Broncos emceeing the event, you can expect a lot of trash-talking. Here's the quick and nasty list of the athletes and celebrities who'll be in attendance:
| Daunte Culpepper | Marcellus Wiley | Quentin Jammer | Derrick Brooks |
| Terrell Owens | Jeff Garcia | Garrison Hearst | Phillip Buchanon |
| Barry Sims | Langston Walker | Charlie Garner | Tyrone Wheatley |
| Rod Woodson | Antwaan Randle El | Saun Alexander | Shawn Springs |
| Sammy Knight | Ray Mickens | Ahman Green | Tony Gonzalez |
| Anthony Thomas | Corey Dillon | Michael Bennett | Jevon Kearse |
| Joey Porter | Roy Williams | Dexter Coakley | Johnnie Harris |

The Ninth Annual Madden Bowl will be held at the Axiom Nightclub in San Diego's revitalized Gaslamp District beginnning at 7:30pm Thursday, January 23 and running until 10:30pm.
