Take-Two Interactive today announced that its second-quarter profits rose 93% over profits from last year during the same period.
The company reported a $9.64 million profit (25 cents as share) for the second quarter, as compared to a loss of $11.5 million (35 cents a share) last year as the same time. Sales for the second quarter, ending April 30, 2002, nearly doubled to $170.3 million from $88.2 million.
Grand Theft Auto III has sold-through to consumers more than six million copies, after having been released last October 2001, and is the number one selling PlayStation 2 game, over Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Final Fantasy X.
Take-Two and internal game division Rockstar will publish Grand Theft Auto III: Vice City this October.
