Feel the Need for Speed

The police will be busy this summer, chasing down speed-hungry civilians driving fast cars on the open road. EA is bringing the next installment of their Need For Speed series to all platforms. Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2 allows gamers to hop into one of over twenty licensed cars, including the Ferrari 360 Spider, Lamborghini Murcielago, and Porsche Carrera GT.

Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2 features five gameplay modes:

• Quick Race
• Single Challenge
• Hot Pursuit
• Championship
• Top Cop (PC, Xbox, and GameCube only)

The new Top Cop mode lets gamers hop behind the wheel of a police car. As a highway partolman, players chase down speeding miscreants and compete in over 30 events. Completing the 30-plus events in Hot Pursuit and Championship modes unlock new cars, tracks, and upgrades. Tear up over 20 tracks, driving through forests and across beaches in an attempt to quench your thirst for speed. Two-player split screen racing is available for PS2, Xbox, and GameCube gamers. PC racers can hop onto the internet and tear it up against up to seven other drivers.

The PC, Xbox, and GCN versions of Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2 are being developed by EA Seattle, while the PS2 version is being handled by Black Box.
