Though Curious George is still prepping for his big screen debut early next year, his little screen premiere was almost nearly ready to go at Namco's press event this evening. The company had on display Curious George for the Game Boy Advance where we got a chance to tinker with the work-in-progress.

Even though the producer stated that the game has a few more weeks to go in development, the game at Namco's show looked almost entirely ready to go. This side-scrolling platform game, developed by the Aussie development team at Torus Games, is surprisingly fun for such a simple design. The team has created a basic run-and-jump game that focuses on a fast-and-frantic feel, with players controlling George in a variety of locations based on the places he goes in the upcoming film.

The game doesn't try to be a whole lot, and that's its charm. Players can easily pick up and play Curious George -- but even with its simplistic design, its still challenging as players have to navigate the monkey through a variety of hazards as unscathed as possible -- three bad hits and its back to the last checkpoint. Many of the levels revolve around George trying to beat the Man with the Yellow Hat to his next location, and when a level's been beat, players can return to challenge the tough time trial mode.

The GBA game's set to ship around the time of the movie early next year. Check out some screenshots by hitting the link below.
