Better Christmas List ($2.99)

Overcome your holiday shopping procrastination with this handy App that makes it easy to organize your gift-giving To-do list. Simply add in the names for everyone you're shopping for and jot down gift ideas as you get them. Best of all, it'll help you set a budget and stick to it. Worried about family snoops seeing what they're getting early? No worries! Better Christmas List also has a password lock feature.

eSnowGlobe ($1.99)

Turn your iPhone into a festive wintry snow globe with eSnowGlobe. Using the iPhone's built-in tilt function, you can tip and rotate your phone and watch the snowflakes tumble around your screen. You can also drag your finger across the screen to create wind gusts or make snowballs. eSnowGlobe comes with three fun backgrounds, but you can also turn any photo in your album into a snow globe too.

Run into a brick wall in a conversation at a holiday party or dinner? Try Facts. This is quite simply, as the name states, a collection of thousands of fun facts and trivia about various topics. We've all seen those beer pouring Apps for the iPhone, but for your next holiday mixer, why not class it up a bit? iMartini lets you pour a virtual martini for a fraction of the cost of a real martini. Kraft has put together one of the most impressive cooking Apps for the iPhone yet. Get tons of recipes at your fingertips as well as daily recipe suggestions. Each recipe has a tantalizing photo, easy step-by-step directions and user reviews. There are even instructional videos to give you some pointers. iFood Assistant will also create an easy-to-follow shopping list and even help locate nearby stores. Next time you're asked to help with the holiday cooking, you'll have a new secret weapon.

Drinks ($3.99)

Don't just rely on your memory to summon great cocktail recipes. Drinks is like having a bartender encyclopedia in your pocket. You can easily search by drink names or by ingredients, to find creative new ways to use the bottles you already have in stock. The recipes are easy to follow, and you can also add your own concoctions.

Facebook (Free)

While not an obscure App by any means, the Facebook App for iPhone is a great tool to help you get back in touch with old friends from your hometown. All of those people you've been meaning to call for years? Finally do it this time! Or, if you're taking an exotic vacation over the holidays, you can easily upload photos to your Facebook photo albums to keep friends and family up-to-date with your adventures as they happen.

Yelp (Free)

If you haven't heard of Yelp, it's a massive user review community for restaurants, shopping, cafes, gas stations, entertainment and more. In the mood for Chinese? Find the best Chinese restaurants near your current location. Easily look up store hours, addresses, phone numbers and most importantly if people like it. I've found the iPhone version of Yelp an invaluable tool while traveling. It's just like having a concierge living in your pocket, and it's helped turn me on to some amazing places.

Dr. Awesome ($1.99)

Let's face it, if you're traveling or hanging out at family parties, you're going to have some downtime. What better way to kill a few minutes with one of the best games currently available for the iPhone? Dr. Awesome creatively takes names for your phone's contact list and turns the names into patients which you must cure of deadly infections. The game features classic arcade action and tight tilt controls that are simple to learn, but quickly ramp up to quite a challenge. Dr. Awesome lives up to the name.

LED Football ($.99)

For only a buck, you can break out this blast from the past and show your kids what games were like long before Madden and Guitar Hero. This is an amazingly accurate representation of the classic LED Football hand-held game. If you're old enough to remember these, it's great to see it again and hear all the old beeps and boops. Be warned, though: this game is still quite the challenge!
