I've found the iPhone version of Yelp an invaluable tool while traveling. It's just like having a concierge living in your pocket, and it's helped turn me on to some amazing places.
Let's face it, if you're traveling or hanging out at family parties, you're going to have some downtime. What better way to kill a few minutes with one of the best games currently available for the iPhone? Dr. Awesome creatively takes names for your phone's contact list and turns the names into patients which you must cure of deadly infections. The game features classic arcade action and tight tilt controls that are simple to learn, but quickly ramp up to quite a challenge. Dr. Awesome lives up to the name.
For only a buck, you can break out this blast from the past and show your kids what games were like long before Madden and Guitar Hero. This is an amazingly accurate representation of the classic LED Football hand-held game. If you're old enough to remember these, it's great to see it again and hear all the old beeps and boops. Be warned, though: this game is still quite the challenge!
