Although the Nintendo Wii is still selling like hotcakes, dedicated fans are starting to find its limits.
The game system that just powered past the Xbox 360 in sales offers only 512 MB of internal storage. Once that's filled with downloadable games and other associated content, players are forced to copy them back and forth to removable memory cards.
Although we first reported on the situation in May, it took until this week for Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime to address the subject. In an interview with MTV, Fils-Aime said that Nintendo recognizes it's becoming more of a mainstream problem, and the company has "a sense of urgency" to solve it.
Competing machines like the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 can be equipped with large hard drives and, unlike the Wii, can access content directly from any storage media without needing to copy it to an internal store. Although Nintendo hasn't yet announced a concrete plan to level the playing field, the firm is widely expected to unveil a solution in the near future.
