Could this be the biggest video games week of the entire year? If the analysts' predictions are to be believed, it's definitely a whopper. Nintendo's newest Mario Kart release is already gathering rave reviews, and as Iron Man arrives in movie theaters, so too does the game, on all major platforms. But the biggest title launching this week is...let's see here, apparently some silly game from Scotland about an ugly Russian car thief? Sounds terrible. Still, there's no accounting for taste.
IGN called it "the best game since Zelda: Ocarina of Time". Gamespy called it "a modern-day masterpiece that could change the way the world views videogames". We'd tell you what we think of it, but we're too busy playing it to bother. Now it's time to make up your own minds, because - as you surely can't fail to have noticed - Grand Theft Auto IV hit the mean streets worldwide this week, in what's already predicted to be the biggest launch in videogame history. Believe it or not, Grand Theft Auto isn't the only triple-A game releasing this week. Although they won't be playing GTA, Wii owners shouldn't feel left out, because this classic kart racer is just as good on the Wii as it was on every other Nintendo platform since the dawn of time. Er, approximately. It even comes with its own plastic wheel. Can you say that about Grand Theft Auto? Can you? No, you can't. For plastic wheel lovers, Mario Kart Wii is the only game worth considering.
