Konami on Sony Price Cut

Konami exec weighs multiplatform Metal Gear Solid 4, snubs Sony price cut.

Talking to a Reuters reporter ahead of today's E3 kickoff, Konami North American and European head Kazumi Kitaue expressed doubt about the usefulness of this weekend's $100 PlayStation 3 price cut, and cast doubt on the future of the Metal Gear Solid series' traditional Sony-exclusive status.

"I wonder if Sony can win back user support by the price cut of just $100... Since Metal Gear Solid was born for the PlayStation, we would like to keep it a PlayStation game," Kitaue commented. Could this mean we'll be seeing Metal Gear Solid IV make an appearance on the still-cheaper Xbox 360?

Maybe, maybe not: Kitaue's remarks are far from categorical, and the explosion in PlayStation 3 sales over the first few days of the price cut indicate it might be having a little more impact than he suspects. All the same, having one of your few remaining top exclusives called into question isn't a great start to the week for Sony.
