Foreign ministers representing the G8 nations received unusual presents last week when they arrived for their annual summit in Hokkaido, Japan.
The representatives -- with US Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice among them -- were presented with a gorgeous red-lacquered Nintendo DS Lite, presumably to give them something to occupy themselves with during all those boring meetings. They also received perfume balls and sheets of stickers bearing anime-style caricatures of themselves and other world leaders.
A more cynical commentator would wonder, given the state of political administrations at home and abroad, whether the Japanese had sufficient foresight to include a copy of best-selling, IQ-improving puzzle game Brain Training with the DSs. Not us, though. We wouldn't be wondering that at all.
