Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (1992)
Only one game outsold Sonic the Hedgehog on the Genesis, and it was -- you guessed it -- Sonic the Hedgehog 2. It introduced Sonic's sidekick Miles Prower (miles-per-hour, get it?), somewhat less punnily known as "Tails".
