James Bond didn't become a double-0 agent overnight. It took years of training before he had his first mission. Quantum of Solace lets you assume the role by simply picking up the controller, but when it comes to channeling the ultimate secret agent, you're going to need more than an itchy trigger finger. That's why we've gathered these tips and tricks to help you be a more effective Bond offline and online. For England!
Duck and Cover
If you enter a room spraying lead, it's likely that you will end up with more holes than Swiss cheese. Keep in mind that slow and steady wins the race, so creep in, hug the walls and take advantage of the new cover system. It acts like additional armor when fighting bad guys, especially those at a distance. Without it, you'll be a sitting duck and therefore, dead. Just remember to keep on the move as the enemy will sneak around behind you and make that cover useless, given enough time.
Bring Grenades to a Gunfight
Typically you'll find yourself with at least one grenade when starting a mission. Instead of hoarding it and waiting for the "right time," use it whenever you encounter large groups of enemies. Often times they will drop grenades when they die, and as you can only carry a finite number of them, the fallen grenades will go wasted otherwise.
Takedown Shakedown
Takedowns are excellent stealthy attacks that dispatch enemies with one button press. Perfect for those hiding behind corners or with their backs to you; just make sure you don't try to takedown a group of bad guys or they'll shoot you dead while you're taking out one of them. If someone is far away, don't hesitate to sprint towards them to initiate the takedown either.
One Shot, One Kill
As Bond, precision is key, so if you're going to take a shot, you need to make it count. Head shots are typically best for this, but in some cases, the right weapon also does the trick. More than just saving ammo, you'll unlock new rewards for your Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 profiles if you can kill enemies with one shot. Plus, if you're going to assume the role of a super spy, it's embarrassing if you're not bringing your A-game.
Trap the Trapmaker
This one's a little annoying, but isn't that the best kind of online play griefing? When playing a multiplayer mode where proximity mines spawn on the map, grab one and drop it on its spawn point. Other than its telltale sound, it'll be very hard to detect with the average eye and when someone goes to grab it, BOOM! If you're really clever, try to drop them where players spawn too.
