Week Of 12/1/08

By Mike Smith

The torrent of fall releases might have subsided to a trickle, but there's still plenty to get excited about this week. The newest Prince of Persia game debuts, bringing the acclaimed Assassin's Creed graphical engine to this long-running series. Plus detective Nancy Drew takes her first brave steps onto the Wii. Will she prove as big a hit on the consoles as she has on the PC?

Prince of Persia

WATCH TRAILER

Ubisoft reboots this classic franchise once again this week, with a new star, a new mission, and a new graphics engine courtesy of last year's Assassin's Creed. There's no more flipping through time for the Prince, but he still has a safety net courtesy of his new sidekick, Elika. Pitted against evil gods, corrupted rivals and his tendency to reinvent himself every few years, will he come out on top?

Nancy Drew: The White Wolf of Icicle Creek

SEE GAME PAGE

Already a best-seller on the PC, the Nancy Drew series makes its console debut this week on the Nintendo Wii. Although we've not yet had the pleasure, the mouse-driven controls should translate easily to the platform, and no doubt the supersleuthing is still captivating.

Luxor: Quest for the Afterlife

SEE GAME PAGE

Graverobbers, the spirit of Queen Nefertiti, and arcade-puzzle gameplay all jostle for top billing in the latest Luxor release. Can you master its 18 cities, and recover the lost treasures of the ancient world?
