Fun time's over at Rye Hill
Being incarcerated at Her Majesty's Pleasure just became rather less fun. Inmates at Britain's Rye Hill prison are no longer allowed to pass the time with Playstation 3 video games, thanks to prisoners using the consoles to send and receive messages to unknown outside individuals.
"PlayStation 3 consoles are barred on the grounds that they have the capability to send and receive radio signals as an integral part of the equipment," a spokesperson told the Guardian. Prison officials are reportedly concerned that the surreptitious transmissions could be used to smuggle contraband into the jail -- or even to organize escape attempts.
Sorry, chaps: guess you'll have to make do with Xbox 360s instead.
