Iconic entertainer Michael Jackson was reportedly planning to unveil new tracks from his next record as part of a video game.

Word of the plan was first seen on the blog of Jackson acquaintance and famous game maker Dave Perry, who had met with the singer prior to the sale of Neverland Ranch.

"Our discussions lead us to plan for him to release his next music album as a video game FIRST, then as an album. This would have introduced many new players to videogames," Perry said. "He was incredibly interested in the idea, and we got quite far down that road, working on the story and mechanics. We were excited about the press potential."

The legendary singer's gaming roots ran deep. In 1990, he worked closely with Sega to create a video game based on his film, "Moonwalker," which went on to achieve cult-like status for its quirky gameplay. Later works included cameo appearances in Sega's dance game Space Channel 5 and Midway's arcade boxer Ready to Rumble: Round 2. He also built a massive arcade at Neverland that housed a slew of rare classics.

Perry, who founded development studio Shiny Entertainment, boasts an acclaimed resume that includes hit platform franchise Earthworm Jim as well as several games based on "The Matrix" trilogy.
