The bus to nowhere...

Meet the most boring game ever made.

Desert Bus, an infamous segment from a never-released Sega CD game, tasks players with driving a bus from Tuscon, Arizona to Las Vegas, Nevada, at a speed of 45 mph. The feat takes eight continuous hours to complete. You can't pause the game, and it has no other cars, scenery, or other distractions. In fact, the most interesting thing to happen during the trip is that a fly hits the windshield somewhere around the half-way point.

You'd have to be nuts to play Desert Bus at all, but to play it for three straight days? You'd have to be completely off your rocker -- or spurred on by an immensely good cause.

We suspect a little of both is true for a group of gamers from Canada who embarked on an epic Desert Bus fundraiser session over three days ago, promising that as long as people keep giving money to long-running charity Child's Play, they'll keep driving. At the time of writing, they're still going.

The team raised over $70,000 in 2008, and is already well over the $50,000 mark this year. So if you feel like prolonging their agony -- and helping out a good cause to boot -- hit up their site (where they have live streams of both the game and the team) and throw 'em a few bucks. You know, gas money.
