Guitar Hero World Tour Tips And Tricks

Guitar Hero World Tour Videos

You've planned the ultimate Guitar Hero: World Tour party. You've turned the amps to 11, dimmed the lights and have the smoke machine working overtime. Now you just need to know how to rock before the guests show up.

It may look easy, but playing fake instruments can be almost as difficult as playing real ones. Luckily, we've got some solid Guitar Hero: World Tour tips and tricks that will transform you from roadie to rock legend in no time.

1. You've got the touch!

To play like the pros, you need to position your fingers on the right notes, especially if you're going to take a crack at the harder difficulties. Instead of sliding your hand up and down the neck, try to keep your hand in one place and reach with your fingers instead so you don't lose track of the buttons. You only need to move your hand if you want to take advantage of the slide bar. If you're looking to ramp it up to Hard or Expert, place your index finger on Red and onward. Drummers, make sure you keep the sticks loose in your hands so they pop back up while playing, and singers, er... practice twirling.

2. Clean out those pipes.

Okay, singers don't get the complete shaft in Guitar Hero: World Tour. At times during play, a yellow ribbon will appear that acts as a freeform vocal segment. If you can find the right pitch for the song, you can increase your score quickly. One helpful bit of advice: once you find the pitch, hold one note and watch your score skyrocket. Once you have that down, try experimenting with more notes to add multipliers!

3. Money talks.

Playing to get through the song is one thing, but if you play well, you can earn some serious moolah for your efforts. The best way to rack up dough is to take advantage of the rock rewards, which dole out bonus bucks for hot starts and strong finishes, unused star power, and note streaks. One less obvious one the ability to score extra money for jiggling the whammy bar. That should help you earn those wristbands you've had your eye on.

4. A star (power) is born.

Remember, a band is like a family, and that means everyone needs to share. As you gain star power, it goes in a pool for all to use, and any band member can draw from it when they need it. It's important to keep three bubbles full to protect anyone from failing out, as all someone needs to do is trigger star power in order to regain some lost momentum. To stay strong, make sure you use the whammy bar on any star sustain to accumulate extra juice.

5. Game the guitar.

This one's a little tricky but can provide great relief for a lot of the rapid fire chords you'll encounter. If you hold down the required button and the button to its left, you won't miss the note. For example, if you hold down Red and Yellow, you'll be able to score notes for both the chord Red and Yellow as well as the single note Yellow. You won't score for Red though, so make sure to let go of Yellow if a single Red appears.

6. Two guitarists enter, one guitarist leaves.

Battle mode is full of awesome attacks to thwart your buddy's play, but it's much better to store them than to dole out piecemeal. Save up three attacks, and wait for your opponent to fall into the yellow. Then unleash hell and emerge victorious. Trust us. The only exception we'll grant is the Broken String attack during a solo section, as that can prove disastrous to anyone.
