Platforms: Xbox 360, PS3
Genre: Fighting
Release Date: July 29
The battle over two legendary swords continues in Soulcalibur IV. An enormous cast of characters, a bevy of modes, gorgeous visuals and major gameplay tweaks raise the weapons-based fighter to an entirely new level.
Why It's Hot: The definitive weapons-based brawler, the Soulcalibur franchise stands head and shoulders above the rest. The fourth game in the series seems to be hitting all the right notes so far, packing in hordes of characters (including, weirdly enough, Darth Vader and Yoda), brand new online play and a cool new Finishing Move system. Plus, its female fighters boast what might be the biggest breasts in gaming. We understand some of you will, in fact, find that hot. Weirdos.
Why It's Not: 2005's Soulcalibur III hit a few technical road bumps, and while it was generally well-received, the series sort of stalled out. If the new gameplay changes aren't significant, it could dull this blade immeasurably.
