Nintendo DSi

Platforms: Er, it IS a platform
Release Date: April 5
Hold the mail: we realize that the Nintendo DSi is not, in fact, a video game. It is, however, a thing that plays video games, and is easily one of the most anticipated Spring releases.
Why It's Hot:
Slimmer, sexier and loaded with new features, it's a seriously stylish system. Twin cameras let you snap photos, while a new SD card slot lets you store saved games or music. Users will further be able to digitally download new games and applications from an online store, turning the games machine into something of an iPhone Lite (minus the phone.)
Why It's Not:
A mere four and a half years. That's how long ago the DS first launched, yet it's now on to its third iteration. If you already have one -- and based on its outrageous sales figures, chances are good that you do -- and don't have $170 to spare, the bells and whistles might not be enough to get you to upgrade. Again.
