The world's most popular digital dollhouse returns this spring in the hotly-anticipated sequel The Sims 3. A brand new open-world neighborhood lets you seamlessly move your Sims around town, while new Lifetime Wishes give them more concrete goals.
Why It's Hot:
It's the best, that's why. Over 100 million copies of Sims games have been sold worldwide, making it the best-selling game franchise ever. With such a massive fan base to work with, The Sims 3 doesn't need to do a lot to sell like hotcakes, but with hordes of new gameplay enhancements, it's not resting on its fancy new couch.
Why It's Not:
One of the ways the franchise attained its record-setting sales mark was by milking the cow dry. Fifteen expansion packs for two PC games is a bit much, not to mention loads of console spin-offs and, believe it or not, an upcoming feature film. Too much of a good thing isn't always a better thing, you know.
