EA SPORTS Active

Platforms: Wii
Genre: Sports/Fitness
Release Date: May 19
Rating: TBD
Fed up with Wii Fit? EA offers an alternative in this cardio-conscious workout. Focusing more on high-impact weight loss than relaxing yoga stretches, it’s the first legitimate contender to Nintendo's dominant exercise game.
Why It's Hot:
Wii Fit took some hits for not specifically targeting weight loss, a fate EA SPORTS Active hopes to avoid. Bob Greene, best known as Oprah Winfrey's personal trainer, helped develop the workouts. And unlike Wii Fit, it doesn't require that pesky Wii Balance Board, instead coming packaged with a pouch to hold the remote and a resistance band to help build muscle.
Why It's Not:
Resistance band + Wii remotes + Your nephew hopped up on Mountain Dew = at least three or four injuries and possibly a giant hole in the middle of your 42" LCD. Although carrying that broken sucker to the trash might help you lose some weight too.
