Platform: Wii
Genre: Puzzle
Release Date: May 6
EA sets 'em up and you knock them down in this explosive puzzler developed by iconic film director Steven Spielberg. Using the intuitive Wii remote, players are challenged to blast their way through over three hundred levels of brain-busting 3D puzzles, or even create their own using a handy built-in level editor.
Why It's Hot: We'll give you three good reasons right off the bat, one for each of Spielberg's Oscars. His game might let you blow stuff up, but this guy isn't used to bombs. And even without such awesome genes, the game is simple, fun and might actually appeal to both hardcore gamers and the Wii's "expanded" audience.
Why It's Not: Just because you can make a great movie (or twelve) doesn't mean you can make a great game. Spielberg hasn't had direct involvement in making a video game since writing the 1995 LucasArts adventure game The Dig. That's a thirteen-year layoff; so don't be surprised if Boom Blox is a bit rough around the edges.
