
It's the one genre that still hasn't fully transitioned to the home consoles, but strategy games still made news in 2007 -- and we don't just mean because Blizzard finally showed off some footage from StarCraft 2. A slew of high- and low-profile mind-benders helped keep the genre in the limelight, particularly on its native PC platform. The one-time king Command & Conquer finally returned, while new expansions breathed life into older games like Company of Heroes, Civilization IV and Age of Empires III.
But none of these made our top picks. In a very close race, here are the titles that tickled our gray matter most.
