Best Role-Playing Game

Unusually, this year the judges largely eschewed Japanese-developed picks like Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions and Odin Sphere. Instead we have a one-two-three line-up of Western-made role-playing games. Maybe that's a sign that the traditional Japanese RPG style is falling out of favor, or maybe it shows that Square Enix and chums are just taking a little time to adjust to the new range of consoles. Either way, it's been a good year for RPG lovers, and here are our pick of the best three.
