Best Party Game

A long time ago, in a console war, far, far away, a nation of lonely gamers whiled away the hours in dark rooms lit by the eerie glow of gigantic CRT televisions. Occasionally a fellow aficionado would swing by to partake in some two-player baseball or something, but for the most part, video gaming was what you did instead of socializing.

My, how the times have changed. Whether you're into music, sports, action or just good old-fashioned trivia, video games are now the life of any party. Each of the three next-gen consoles was built from the ground up to support four players on one machine, opening the floodgates to a new breed of living room multiplayer madness. Last year's breakout smash Wii Sports officially cemented the party game as a legitimate genre; which A-listers made it behind the velvet ropes of 2007's best?

Activision's fret-burning franchise delivered a ton of new material for gaming guitarists this year. Cool new multiplayer modes keep it right near the top of the party game stacks.
