
Encompassing games from Tabula Rasa to Shadowrun, the online multiplayer category attracted one of the most diverse set of nominations. Our only criterion: it had to be playable online, which as usual covered most of our favorite games of the year. Unusually, despite a couple of nominations, no massively-multiplayer game really caught our collective imagination, no doubt representing World of Warcraft's continued deathgrip on the genre.
MMORPGs or not, one game stood out as the clear winner, but the two runner-up spots were hard-fought -- and Valve's excellent Team Fortress 2 missed out on a gong by the narrowest of narrow margins.
