James Cameron's much-vaunted sci-fi flick is one of the biggest movie releases of the season. Employing some of the same groundbreaking technology as the film, there's just as much anticipation around the game.
Why It's Hot:
Packing gorgeous presentation and many of the same actors as the movie, Avatar doesn't skimp on production values. And because its storyline is separate from the movie's plot, the designers should have a free hand to indulge their creative sides.
Why It's Not:
According to Cameron, Avatar will break the stigma associated with movie-licensed games. According to us, we've heard that one before. And while it's graphically amazing, we're unsure that its relatively standard action gameplay will hold up.

Avatar will be one of the first video games to play in real, honest-to-goodness, jump-off-the-screen-and-punch-you-in-the-face 3D. But you'll need a top-spec TV (and the included 3D goggles) to get the full experience.
