DJ Hero

Platforms: Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Wii, Playstation 2
Release Date: October 27
Turntablism is set to the be the new music game hotness this year, as Activision's all-conquering Hero series broadens its musical horizons by adding yet another specialized controller to its not inconsiderable stable. DJ Hero gives you a turntable and a crossfader: it's your job to mash together around 100 licensed tracks into new and wonderful creations.
Why It's Hot:
Boasting mixes from artists like DJ Shadow, Grandmaster Flash, and the recently deceased DJ AM, Hero has hefty credentials and the weight of Activision's other Hero games behind it. Early looks have been very positive.
Why It's Not:
Geez, another custom controller? Is there really enough room under your couch for all this stuff?
Did You Know?
If you're a real music game aficionado, you can put some of your vast collection of musical controllers to use. Ten of DJ Hero's tracks are specially mixed so that a friend can jam along on guitar, and you can even plug in a microphone for (non-scoring) vocal additions.
